The Book of AfformationsI’ve never had significant results from using affirmations so I was a bit skeptical when I learned of a practice called Afformations.  I’ve learned that it takes much more than a little “positive thinking” to make big shifts in my life.

Despite my skepticism, I recently read The Book of Afformations by Noah St. John.

The concept puts a subtle yet powerful spin on the idea of seeing things as if they’ve already happened.  By turning positive statements into “why” questions, the subconscious mind doesn’t have a chance to block the thought.  Instead, it looks for answers to the “why” questions.

I interviewed Noah to ask him more about it.

Your journey started with “The Shower That Changed Everything” where you had the epiphany that if we change the questions we ask ourselves every day, we can change our lives.  How did you begin to implement this in your life and what changes did you experience?

After I discovered Afformations, I immediately realized that this new mind technology could be used to help people in any area of life – to improve your finances, your health, your relationships, your business, even your fulfillment and peace of mind.

When I discovered Afformations, I was a broke college student with less than $800 to my name. Now I’m happily married to the love of my life, we live in a beautiful home in the Midwest, and I’m honored to work with amazing clients in 178 countries.

What’s the difference between affirmations and Afformations?

An affirmation is a statement of something you would like to be true in your life.

For example, a classic affirmation is, “I am rich.”

The problem is, for many people, when they say things like “I am rich” – their brain responds, “Yeah, right!”

That means you don’t believe these positive statements you’re telling yourself.

However, an Afformation is an empowering question that assumes that what you want is already true or has already happened.

For example, in this case, instead of saying “I am rich” you could afform, “Why am I so rich?”

Using your brain’s embedded presupposition factor – which means your brain is programmed to search for answers to questions – your mind starts to search for the answer to your new question, which causes your mind to focus on what’s RIGHT with you and what you HAVE, rather than what’s WRONG with you and what you LACK.

This is one reason that over a quarter of a million people call Afformations “The Missing Piece” to a life of health, wealth, love, and happiness.

What’s the difference between helpful questions and damaging questions and why do these lead to difference results?

Most people are unconsciously going around asking themselves negative, disempowering questions like, Why am I so stupid? Why am I so fat? Why can’t I lose weight? Why can’t I make more money?

When you ask lousy questions, what do you get? Lousy answers. And that creates a lousy life.

Afformations are empowering questions that immediately change your subconscious thought patterns from negative to positive – by changing your beliefs about yourself and your relationship to the universe.

This in turn allows your mind to focus on what’s RIGHT about you, rather than continue to focus on what’s WRONG with you.

Why are “why” questions more effective in helping us to achieve an outcome than “how” questions?

Two basic forces govern human behavior: the why and the how. The why is your motive for doing something; the how is your method of doing it.

Have you ever noticed that you can know how to do something, but never actually do it? For example, there are hundreds of things you could do right now that you choose not to—run down the street naked, hug a cactus, or pick a fight with Chuck Norris (please don’t try any of these!).

Therefore, motive always trumps method, which means the why always trumps the how—and that is why Afformations start with the word why.

What is the “belief gap” and how can that keep us from achieving our desired outcomes?

One of the most powerful tools in The Book of Afformations is to understand your Belief Gap. When you want to go from where you are to where you want to be, you’re trying to change your reality. I call that going from your CPR (Current Perceived Reality) to your NDR (New Desired Reality).

But no matter what you want to do – whether it’s make more money, grow your business, get a raise, lose weight, find the love of your life – you first have to cross your own Belief Gap: the space between your CPR and your NDR.

That’s one of the reasons The Book of Afformations has over 2 dozen real-life case studies of people who’ve doubled their income in less than a year, gone from broke to six figures, lost over 100 pounds and found love after divorce using this new technology of Afformations.

How many Afformations should a person work with at one time and why?

Studies have shown that while the conscious mind can hold only a few ideas at a time, your subconscious mind can hold many more. That’s why you can never really overwhelm your subconscious mind.

Think about it this way: how many negative thoughts have you had about yourself in your lifetime? A billion? A trillion? Could we even count that high? Most of us could hardly count the number of negative thoughts we’ve had about ourselves. When you think these things, you’re effectively “listening” to these negative thoughts in your head.

That’s one of the reasons we encourage our clients to not just read their Afformations, but also say them and listen to them using iAfform Audios. That’s one of the reasons we’re giving away free downloadable iAfform Audios when you buy The Book of Afformations at www.Afformationsbook.com/more.

I’ve been implementing Afformations in my life since reading the book and have noticed more positive reactions from my subconscious and subtly positive changes in my life.

Like all lasting changes, the results come with baby steps practiced regularly over time.

Here are a few examples of the results achieved by others who have incorporated Afformations into their lives:

Michael from Germany was a chronic procrastinator. He and his wife Silvia had decided to get a divorce. In fact, the divorce papers were on the desk waiting to be signed. At the last moment, Michael decided to share Noah’s teaching of Afformations with Silvia. Something switched. They decided not to get a divorce, are best friends again, and share their list of Afformations with each other every day.

Amy was having constant chest pains and panic attacks due to crushing debt and mounting financial pressure. Every day, she considered suicide just to be free from the pain. A friend told her about Noah’s Afformations System, and Amy read it. That very night, she slept well for the first time in nearly a year. The feelings of panic, anxiety, and overwhelm left her, and she never considered suicide again.

Michael was very dissatisfied with his job. He often wondered why he bothered to come into work at all. Then he heard about Afformations and started using them. A few weeks later, Michael approached his company’s CEO with a proposal for a new position. The proposal was accepted and Michael created his own dream job at more than twice his original salary.

Shannon from Tulsa had been through a devastating divorce and thought she would never find love again. She attended one of Noah’s workshops and started using Afformations to improve her relationships. She soon took a leap of faith, and met the man of her dreams. They are now happily married.
